Pregnant and moving house - not a winning combination!

Friday, 15 November 2013 | Mummy and Little Me

Who thought it’d be a good idea to move house whilst pregnant..? Ohhhhh yes, that was me!

We’re buying a new house and selling our house to first time buyers so we have a very very small chain. Yet the process is still stressful! I honestly don’t know how others with long chains cope, how does it all come together when so many people are involved?!

My house is an absolute mess. I don’t do mess. I can’t handle it! We have boxes everywhere, some empty, some packed and one saved for Austin to play in like a mini ball pool! The other day I returned home from food shopping to find my hubs and bubs hiding from me in a den of boxes! I could hear Austin’s giggles from underneath the cardboard castle, when Maximus (the cat) tried to scratch his way out. He’d apparently wanted to join them in the den. My suspicions are rather that Austin wanted him to join them in the den..!

As I type this, my sofa is at a right angle to the wall - hubby moved it for me while I was cleaning it but left for work before I’d finished so I’ve had to leave it there, waiting for the local hospice to come and collect it. All the glasses are bubble-wrapped in boxes, leaving only mugs to drink from. I figured, mugs are best as you can drink hot and cold from them! Genius, especially as I have baby brain! Most of the kitchen is been packed up, we have a few essentials left out that I'll pack up on the day. The loft is clear – even though its contents has actually mainly just been moved to the garage! Hmmmm I’m beginning to realise we have more left to do than we thought!

I have realised, the best way to get through the stresses and strains of moving whilst I have a 14 month old and a pregnant belly is...iced buns! I can’t get enough of them. I’ve always had a weakness for them, I love their simplicity. Like a digestive, so simple and yet so good. The bad news is, I don’t have any in the cupboard! Iced buns or digestives and I have to wait in for the sofa to be collected. Somebody needs to open a food delivery service for pregnant women and their cravings! Anyone fancy popping to the shop for me?
