Spending a hot summer at home with a newborn and a three year old has meant lot of trips out – afternoons in the park, picnics, outings and walks. And with two little ones in tow, I haven’t always wanted to pack a big, bulky changing bag on top of picnic, rug, etc. so instead I have frequently turned to my Ruby & Ginger mini changing bag.

A cotton pouch with Velcro fastening, this comes in a selection of pretty prints. As I bought mine before I had my baby without knowing whether we were team blue or pink, I chose the neutral and very cute silver stars. Inside is a soft toweling-lined changing mat in matching fabric plus a handy refillable container for wipes.

There’s also room for three nappies and a little internal pocket for nappy sacks or a mini tube of nappy cream.

The bag has a fabric wrist strap with a Velcro fastening so you can hang it on your buggy handle. I’ve also attached it to the waist strap of my Connecta baby carrier – although this wasn’t ideal as it did bump a bit.

It was also invaluable on a recent holiday. Tucked into my carry-on, it made for quick, hassle-free in-flight nappy changes and could be tossed under the buggy for the beach or pool.

The bag and mat are washable at 30 degrees so there’s no need to worry if your little one has an accident on the mat. In all honesty I’d have preferred something a little more robust and durable – maybe an oilskin – but this is a minor gripe. For the price, this is a great little find and a brilliant baby shower gift – and I’ve used it almost every day since my little girl was born at the end of May.
