Walking with a toddler

Elijah hasn’t quite got the hang of walking nicely, small trips to town (we live 10 mins away) turn into whole afternoon expeditions.

I find myself saying the same thing again and again.

By the time we arrive where we need to go I am a stressed out sweaty mess.

Walking with a toddler is like a full workout and I think they should use it as an army training exercise I mean how many eyes and arms do you need?

Don’t go there, it is someone’s garden.

Hold my hand.

Elijah watch the poo.

Hold my hand.

Slow down you will fall over! (Oh! look you fell over again).

Hold my hand.

Get back from the road.

Hold my hand.

No, not that way.

Hold my hand.

We don’t need to go in there, come back!

Hold my hand.

Get off the wall.

Hold my hand.

No, I will not carry you.

Hold my hand.

Watch the bike!

Hold my hand.

Get out of the way.

Hold my hand.

Don’t walk in front of them!

Hold my hand.

Okay, we are nearly home.

Hold my hand.

I’ll get you sweets if you walk nicely.

Hold my hand.

Next time we are bringing the pram.

Hold my hand.

We finally get home, and I feel like I have aged 20 years. I vow to bring the pram next time.

I don’t after a tantrum that sees Elijah face down on the floor screaming he wants to walk.

And…

So, it begins again…

Don’t go there!

Hold my hand!
