Toddlers can be fussy eaters
When I first started writing for the Mummy & Little Me blog, I started off by writing posts about our fussy toddler titled Fussy Eaters Guide. Like many other parents who have fussy toddlers, it is an ongoing battle to get my toddler to eat, never knowing if their will ever come a time when my son doesn’t only want to eat chicken nuggets.
It's been a while since I've written about Joey's fussy eating, mainly because their are no improvements. It is so frustrating to cook him things and he's just not interested in eating it. Last week, I cooked Joey's fave spaghetti Bolognese and he hardly ate any of it which for him is surprising because that's always been the one meal I can guarantee he'll eat all of. Every mealtime is such a battle, even Breakfast is stressful as i end up preparing about 3 different things for him and he still just wastes a lot of food. lunchtimes he just picks at things so i usually rely on teatime as his big meal of the day but he mostly ignores that too. The meals he has been eating at teatime recently are pasta, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, sausages, Spaghetti Carbonara, pizza, chips or potato shapes. Not exactly healthy meals are they, but even if i serve veg when we have it he won’t even bother with it.
As someone who loves food and cooking family meals it frustrates me that chicken nuggets and chips is the bomb to my toddler. I wish he liked roast dinners, fresh chicken, fruit and veg but he just doesn't. With Christmas coming up I'm starting the worry about what he's actually going to eat instead of chicken nuggets. The only fruit he’ll eat is banana but recently he’s not been too fussed about that at the moment.
I'm sure I'm not the only parent who's toddlers terrible eaters. What are your tips to get your toddlers to eat proper meals?
