Christmas Family Traditions

Family Christmas Traditions.
With Christmas fast approaching, I've recently been thinking about the family Christmas traditions I would like to incorporate into our festive celebrations.
My son is two and understands a lot more about Christmas this year. He recognises pictures of Santa and understands that presents are involved! Christmas for me is a time for making memories and spending time with the people closest to us. Having traditions that we could recreate year upon year is something that I have been thinking about for a while. These are some of the things I'd like to do:
1) Leaving A Mince Pie and A Carrot - Many people with families leave a mince pie out for Santa and a carrot for his reindeer. I would like to do this every year and have brought a special plate and cup that will only be used for this every Christmas.
2) Christmas Eve Box - I have been creating a Christmas Eve Box every year since Jack was born. I tend to include new Pyjamas, a book, stickers and a Christmas Film. We open the box on Christmas Eve and tend to use the contents to make the day prior to Christmas a family focused occasion.
3) Advent Calendar - Advent Calendars come in many forms. Aside from the traditional chocolate version, you can make Book Advents or create personal homemade calendars. I try to do something different with Jack's advent calendar every year.
4) Elf On The Shelf - I love this recent idea and am going to try it out for the first time this year. I need ideas though so feel free to make suggestions about what I could do with my elf.
These are just some of the little things I want to try this Christmas. Some many work easily, others like the Elf On The Shelf may prove difficult. What do you like to do at Christmas to create memories and family traditions?
